SA Water’s contractor McConnell Dowell will be undertaking an early morning concrete pour at the Wastewater Treatment Plant on Thursday, 5 December 2025, as part of the desalination project. Works are expected to commence from approximately 4.00am and continue through the day. Concrete pump trucks and excavators will be operating on site; however, noise levels are expected to be similar to previous construction activities, with no anticipated disruption to nearby residents or RV campers.
Locations:
Axel Stenross boat ramp is located 97 Lincoln Highway.
Billy Lights Point boat ramp is located Saint Andrews Drive.
Please note: SA Water is constructing a desalination plant at Billy Lights Point between May 2025 and the end of 2026. Construction activities near the Self Contained Vehicle parking may cause some disruption, but we will endeavour to post any excessive activities that may impact customers online.
During the month of September, SA Water's contractors McConnell Dowell will be onsite at the Wastewater Treatment Plant facility driving piles. This involves installing steel columns into the ground to provide stability for the construction of the shaft, to support the marine intake pump station for the desalination plant.
The process of hammering the piles into the ground will generate noise. The activity will occur primarily during the hours of 7am to 5pm, but sometimes may extend beyond the hours of 5pm to finish no later than 9pm.
Once operational, the plant will provide a long-term supply of safe, clean drinking water to 35,000 customers living and working on the Eyre Peninsula.
Please contact the project stakeholder team with any questions about the construction activities on 0477 448 544, email epdesal@sawater.com.au or visit the Project Delivery Office at 6/50 Liverpool Street, Port Lincoln.
