Seafood Mecca
Port Lincoln is known as the "Seafood Capital of Australia" for good reason. We have the largest fishing fleet in the southern hemisphere and the variety of seafood to match. From shellfish to crayfish, and everything in between, seafood lovers are sure to be impressed.
Local chef, Kris Bunder, offers a seafood masterclass as part of a larger regional tour, where you will learn about each species and how to prepare and cook it. Even better, you then get to enjoy the fruits of his labour at his waterfront home, overlooking the Lincoln Cove Marina, all washed down with a local drop, of course.
Other local eateries offering premium seafood experiences include: Fumo 28 Oysterbar, Sarin's Restaurant in the Port Lincoln Hotel, and the Marina Hotel. For an all 'round seafood experience you can't go past The Fresh Fish Place, combining factory tours, a fresh seafood outlet and some of the best in-house fish and chips in town.
Touring, Wining and Dining
There are many secret spots on the Southern Eyre Peninsula that you simply can't discover without the knowledge of a local. This is where our entertaining tour guides come in. Lunch Doudle, from Australian Coastal Safaris is a bit of a local legend with a lot of larrikin thrown in. What he doesn't know about this region, fishing, seafood and local history isn't worth knowing. With Lunch, you will explore national parks and secret beaches, participate in gathering your dinner, and taste some of the best and freshest seafood in the world, all without worrying about the drive, getting bogged, or reading a map.
"Hassie" (Craig Haslam) from Xplore Eyre also offers premium 4WD tours across the Eyre Peninsula, from Adelaide to Port Lincoln and further afield. Koalas, food and wine, and Coffin Bay are included in Xplore Eyre's day trip packages.
