SUMMARY:Red Brolly Studio
DESCRIPTION:Red Brolly Studio presents an exhibition of varied scale and content. Large\,ceramic sculptures explore the power of facial expression and unspoken communication. Paradoxically\, at the same time they emit a calm silence. \nFired in a gas kiln to 1300c with crackle and ash glazes. You can’t help wanting to feel them. At the other end of the spectrum various themes are pursued with oil on canvas. \nQuirky paintings\, frivolously explore what are often the hard won lessons of our lives. It started with “The Rabbit of Truth”\, and 20 paintings later finished with “Dare to be Playful”. Recently inspiration has come from Tumby Bay and the significance of its channel markers. These works certainly lean on the abstract side. My natural tendency is to ‘tidy things up’\, but some of the artists I most admire\, achieve engagement\, boldness and messy all at the same time. Like my first foray into ceramic sculpture\, I am finding it is not as easy as one would think Every painting is a teacher

SUMMARY:Love Notes To The Laundromat
DESCRIPTION:Love Notes to the Laundromat is a celebration of the shared spaces that bring people together. Part creative response\, part placemaking experiment\, Love Notes to the Laundromat began as a collection of love notes written by local artist Eliza Wuttke to Third Places across Port Lincoln. A third place is a communal space outside of home and work or school where people spend time\, common examples include places like the library\, cafes and parks as well as more obscure spaces where people pass time\, like the laundromat on a wet Sunday evening. \nLove Notes to the Laundromat was first shown at SALT Festival in 2024 before visiting Barmera for SALA Festival. What began as an experiment in place attachment has now grown into an ongoing project centered on celebrating connection\, community and the places that we gather. \nVisitors to the exhibition are invited to pause\, read the notes left b0y others and add their own love note to the slowly growing collection.

SUMMARY:A Word in the Hand-The Streakers of Poetry Bay
DESCRIPTION:“The Streakers of Poetry Bay” comprise two poets and a singer/song writer who span three generations — Gen X\, Boomers\, & Millennials — and hail from Streaky Bay. Each has a distinctive ‘voice’ addressing varied subject matter. Compositions range from the lyrical\, through serious\, irreverent\, romantic\, satirical\, whimsical and bawdy. They perform individually and together\, linking their material with good-humoured banter into which the audience is occasionally invited. \nThe Streakers arose soon after Nick Carroll (Boomer)\, performing and creative artist\, retired with his wife to Streaky Bay in 2022. Nick met Scott Mepham\, (Gen X)\, registered nurse and a life-long poet\, with a Collection already published. Through poetry they found immediate rapport. A little later Jesse Giles (Millennial)\, born in Streaky Bay\, IT/Audio Technician\, and self-taught musician\, joined and soon the generation gaps began closing. Their inaugural performance at Streaky in February 2024 was a surprising success.

SUMMARY:Drew Cornell - Kind of "Un-Plugged"
DESCRIPTION:I’m looking forward to an intimate performance in the Nautilus Theatre and will feature a selection of songs in various genres including blues\, jazz and a little gospel. My instruments will include my acoustic guitar\, a metal resonator guitar as well as an electric guitar or two. \nAs a teenager\, I performed around Melbourne’s acoustic music venues e.g. the “Outpost Inn” and “Frank Traynor’s”. Folk singer Julia Wong introduced me to ‘the blues’ which became my mainstay until the early 70s. My arrival in Adelaide in the 90s included regular jazz performances as well as rockabilly and rhythm and blues. I stayed busy until moving to Port Lincoln around 14 years ago. We love Port Lincoln’s friendly atmosphere and still enjoy performing from time to time.

SUMMARY:Lien
DESCRIPTION:A new one-on-one performance that embodies the beauty of human connection and the power of shared moments. In the gentle embrace of solitude\, Lien emerges as a testament to community and empathy\, born as an antidote to the distancing and isolation that has shaped our recent history. \nIn this intimate exchange\, one audience member and one dancer come together on an otherwise empty stage for a singular ten-minute encounter that will never be repeated. A spontaneous performance guided by the tender conversation that unfolds in the preceding moments; a gift to the audience member and a performance that no one else will ever witness. \n  \nOverall Best Dance Award Adelaide Fringe 2024 \nWeekly Best Dance Award Adelaide Fringe 2024 \nWeekly Best Dance Award Adelaide Fringe 2023 \nThe Sydney Fringe Tour Ready Award 2023
