SUMMARY:Red Brolly Studio
DESCRIPTION:Red Brolly Studio presents an exhibition of varied scale and content. Large\,ceramic sculptures explore the power of facial expression and unspoken communication. Paradoxically\, at the same time they emit a calm silence. \nFired in a gas kiln to 1300c with crackle and ash glazes. You can’t help wanting to feel them. At the other end of the spectrum various themes are pursued with oil on canvas. \nQuirky paintings\, frivolously explore what are often the hard won lessons of our lives. It started with “The Rabbit of Truth”\, and 20 paintings later finished with “Dare to be Playful”. Recently inspiration has come from Tumby Bay and the significance of its channel markers. These works certainly lean on the abstract side. My natural tendency is to ‘tidy things up’\, but some of the artists I most admire\, achieve engagement\, boldness and messy all at the same time. Like my first foray into ceramic sculpture\, I am finding it is not as easy as one would think Every painting is a teacher

SUMMARY:Love Notes To The Laundromat
DESCRIPTION:Love Notes to the Laundromat is a celebration of the shared spaces that bring people together. Part creative response\, part placemaking experiment\, Love Notes to the Laundromat began as a collection of love notes written by local artist Eliza Wuttke to Third Places across Port Lincoln. A third place is a communal space outside of home and work or school where people spend time\, common examples include places like the library\, cafes and parks as well as more obscure spaces where people pass time\, like the laundromat on a wet Sunday evening. \nLove Notes to the Laundromat was first shown at SALT Festival in 2024 before visiting Barmera for SALA Festival. What began as an experiment in place attachment has now grown into an ongoing project centered on celebrating connection\, community and the places that we gather. \nVisitors to the exhibition are invited to pause\, read the notes left b0y others and add their own love note to the slowly growing collection.

SUMMARY:Daylight Meets Tour
DESCRIPTION:A triple act tour of epic proportions\, two 6 piece bands and a rockin’ duo hit the road from the East Coast to South Australia.\nThe raw rolling sounds of Benji & The Saltwater Sound System will have everyone on the dance floor with their Pacific grooves garnished with sweet guitar licks and feet-pounding horns. This tour coincides with the release of their latest single ‘Where The Daylight Meets’\nRobyn Martin returns to the Eyre Peninsula this time with a full 6 piece band in tow. With a sound that is distinctly Australian\, her music traversing a wide terrain from deep pocket soul\, mixed with heart warming\, thought provoking folk sensibilities\, to the occasional country hoedown singalong and a sprinkle of grungy angst rock.\nKarl S Williams and Sally Wiggins make music that is steeped in delta blues\, gospel and old-time folk. Poetic sensibilities call to mind the classic singer-songwriters of yesteryear. With a voice that sounds about a thousand years old\, Karl moves between guitar\, piano and banjo. Sally’s mesmerising rhythms are drawn from her wealth of jazz and Afro influences. Karl proudly traces his bloodlines to the Butchulla and Darug people of Australia’s First Nations. This deep connection to the landscape of his homeland pervades his work and infuses it with a spirituality that is older than time.\nJust a year into their journey the pair have already clocked up appearances at festivals such as Kiama Jazz & Blues\, Wintermoon\, Tamworth Country Music and Echuca Winter Blues and opened for The Whitlams\, The Cruel Sea and Ash Grunwald.
