SUMMARY:CASH: American Recordings starring Henry Wagons
DESCRIPTION:Love Police & General Admission Entertainment are proud to present CASH: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE AMERICAN RECORDINGS – a powerful live show starring Australian country outlaw Henry Wagons and The Tennessee Studs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNo country music icon has the depth\, enigma and songwriting weight of Johnny Cash. \nKnown as the “Man in Black”\, Cash’s music has always embraced the existential void and stared down the darkness head-on. No period of his esteemed career did this more so than his infamous\, late-career American Recordings albums recorded with creative guru Rick Rubin. Across the course of these six albums released between 1996 and 2006\, Cash’s every syllable serves as both a show-down and an embrace of death itself. \nIn CASH: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE AMERICAN RECORDINGS\, beloved brooding baritone HENRY WAGONS will lean into the deep mythology and sound of The American Recordings Albums. Featuring the favourites Solitary Man (Neil Diamond)\, Hung My Head (Sting)\, The Mercy Seat (Nick Cave)\, Hurt (Nine Inch Nails)\, One (U2) and more\, Wagons and band The Tennessee Studs will re-create the sonic depth\, poise and ominous force of the original recordings\, as if you were sitting with Cash and Rubin in the control room.

SUMMARY:MARROW
DESCRIPTION:A choreographic course correction for a nation in search of a new direction.  \nSet on a shared ground where politics and identity are not our totality\, Marrow is a muscular dance work that sees Australian Dance Theatre’s incredible ensemble tangle with layers of smoke and light to disassemble our dominant cultural narratives and reveal the truth of our past.   Created by Daniel Riley in collaboration with ADT’s Company Artists\, senior Kaurna/Ngarrindjeri Elder Uncle Moogy Sumner AM\, composer James Howard (SAVAGE)\, Matthew Adey (THE HUM) and Ailsa Patterson (Tracker)\, Marrow sees the company delve deeper into the falsehoods and alienation at the core of our shared history. \nBracingly honest\, Marrow is a clear-eyed and powerful work that sifts through the smoky forms of our national conscience to imagine a new future that acknowledges the push of our present moment. \nWarnings: Marrow contains flickering and flashing lights\, theatrical haze and smoke effects\, loud noises and sound pressure effects\, mature themes and references to violence.

SUMMARY:Love Notes To The Laundromat
DESCRIPTION:Love Notes to the Laundromat is a celebration of the shared spaces that bring people together. Part creative response\, part placemaking experiment\, Love Notes to the Laundromat began as a collection of love notes written by local artist Eliza Wuttke to Third Places across Port Lincoln. A third place is a communal space outside of home and work or school where people spend time\, common examples include places like the library\, cafes and parks as well as more obscure spaces where people pass time\, like the laundromat on a wet Sunday evening. \nLove Notes to the Laundromat was first shown at SALT Festival in 2024 before visiting Barmera for SALA Festival. What began as an experiment in place attachment has now grown into an ongoing project centered on celebrating connection\, community and the places that we gather. \nVisitors to the exhibition are invited to pause\, read the notes left b0y others and add their own love note to the slowly growing collection.

SUMMARY:Red Brolly Studio
DESCRIPTION:Red Brolly Studio presents an exhibition of varied scale and content. Large\,ceramic sculptures explore the power of facial expression and unspoken communication. Paradoxically\, at the same time they emit a calm silence. \nFired in a gas kiln to 1300c with crackle and ash glazes. You can’t help wanting to feel them. At the other end of the spectrum various themes are pursued with oil on canvas. \nQuirky paintings\, frivolously explore what are often the hard won lessons of our lives. It started with “The Rabbit of Truth”\, and 20 paintings later finished with “Dare to be Playful”. Recently inspiration has come from Tumby Bay and the significance of its channel markers. These works certainly lean on the abstract side. My natural tendency is to ‘tidy things up’\, but some of the artists I most admire\, achieve engagement\, boldness and messy all at the same time. Like my first foray into ceramic sculpture\, I am finding it is not as easy as one would think Every painting is a teacher
