SUMMARY:Cruise Ship Arrival - Silver Nova
DESCRIPTION:Port Lincoln is a popular destination for cruise ships. The 2024/25 cruise ship season will run from 2 October 2024 through to 2 April 2025\, with 11 ships expected to visit our port. \nWith each ship visit there is approximately 2500 passengers and 1000 crew that disembark and visit the city. These large numbers of visitors significantly increase the number of people in the CBD\, which is positively managed as apart of our Cruise Ship Welcome Programed with the wonderful assistance from local volunteers. In previous years Port Lincoln has received accolades as being voted as best port by passengers according to South Australian Tourism Commission market research. \nFrom the ship it is approximately a 10 minute walk along our beautiful foreshore to the CBD.  There is also plenty of things to see and do to enjoy our picturesque city. \nTours are bookable through the Visitor Information Centre please click link: Cruise Ship \nIf you have any questions please call the Visitor Information Centre on 1300 788 378.

DESCRIPTION:Saltbush is an immersive and interactive journey through the culture and language of Aboriginal Australia. \nBe amazed by this incredible immersive experience from Insite Arts. \nSaltbush is a plant that can be found throughout Australia in almost all Aboriginal lands\, and so it represents a common thread between all the different nations of Australian Indigenous peoples. This shared idea acted as a point of inspiration for the narrative\, contemporary painting\, dance and instrumental music that were created by the Aboriginal artists in this production. These artistic forms were used as a means of interpreting the natural features of the landscape in an Indigenous mythological context. Through its sensor and infrared cameras\, Saltbush allows the children to interact\, play and perform in the production and provides an immersive experience of the artwork. This also provides a unique experience for parents and teachers as they watch the children become involved. The narrative centres on the journey of two friends and their spiritual guide on foot as they cross Australian landscapes – river country\, an urban landscape\, desert and the sea. The journey is one of discovering the land\, growing an understanding and acknowledging how it challenges or provokes personal journeys. TPO’s award winning artistry in multi-media theatre for young people is combined with the work of acclaimed professional Aboriginal artists Lou Bennett (music)\, Delwyn Mannix (visual art)\, Deon Hastie and Anna Balducci (choreography)\, Sasha Zahra (dramaturgy) under the artistic direction of former Come Out director Jason Cross and TPO director Davide Venturini. The recent tour of Saltbush to China in 2024 was generously supported by the Creative Australia International Travel Fund.

DESCRIPTION:The Port Lincoln Long lunch is a collaboration of hospitality venues in Port Lincoln to provide the community an avenue where they are able to experience local produce\, wine\, beer and local musicians in a single day event. The Port Lincoln long Lunch began in 1998\, initiated by the Zonta Club of Port Lincoln to celebrate the abundance of local produce as well as the talented chefs and musicians. The original event was held in February\, later changing to coincide with the Adelaide Cup long weekend in May. The Long Lunch has continued to evolve with the event currently being run completely by the venues that participate. \nThe event is held across the venues that participate (currently 11 local venues) with all offering a selection small (entrée) size dishes as well as local and South Australian wine and beer.  Patrons attending the event just need to choose their starting point from one of the 11 participating venues opting to either walk or catch the Long Lunch City Loop Bus.  The Long Lunch City Loop Bus loops to each venue throughout the day with tickets for a day bus pass going towards both the cost of the bus and a charity the Long Lunch is raising funds for. \n The 2025 Port Lincoln Long Lunch will be held on Sunday 25th May\, details and menus to follow.
